Daniel J Jackson, MD, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He earned his BS and MD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in Madison, WI and completed his pediatric residency training at the University of California-Davis in Sacramento, CA.
Dr Jackson returned to the University of Wisconsin for his allergy and immunology fellowship, and joined the faculty in 2010. His clinical and translational research examines the onset, exacerbation, and treatment of childhood asthma.
He is currently leading clinical trials in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Asthma Network (AsthmaNet) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ Inner-City Asthma Consortium (ICAC) investigating the mechanisms and prevention of asthma exacerbations in children.
He is the UW-Madison PI for two NIH-funded trials targeting asthma prevention, and has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He was honoured with the Klosterfrau International Award for Research in Childhood Airway Diseases in 2013, the Gerald O’Dell Award for excellence in pediatric research in 2014, and the Burton Zweiman Memorial Lectureship from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology in 2017.
